I Might Be Crazy
(I meant to put this blog up on 9/5)
I'm taking Lile's idea to see what I was doing in the past. So, in 2009 I was on FIRE in September. I did 20 posts !
On this particular day I was posting the 7,000 word Chapter 8 of UL and I was being oddly protective of it. I think because that was when I decided that ish was going to start hitting the fan and Sawyer was arrested for cooking meth (to be fair Breaking Bad has just become a thing)
This is the first time I ever did a playlist and there was clearly a learning curve there. Pretty much all my songs were from a One Tree Hill album. I was super apprehensive about the music, but I've gotten better about it. Also, this was pre-Pandora / Spotify so my music selecting was severely handicapped.
I re-read this chapter and I just want to edit the crap out of it, but that could just start a whole thing. I think I was really trying to keep Elisa alive in the story, but I had no story for her. The scary thing for me is when I posted this I didn't have a single other word written.. I think I operated like that until about chapter 20. If I did that nowadays I swear I'd have a nervous breakdown.
Other Things
- Corriander ! I didn't realize you read my stuff pre-being hired at Cobalt
- I realize I use the name Sam in UL and I used it again in HMLIS...I must have really bad memory if I keep unintentionally reusing names.
- This is pre-Veritas and you all were JUST SHOCKED I made a character a drug dealer. I'm sure if I did this post-Vice/Veritas you'd all be "meh, all in a day"
- Elisa (and Darcy from IVB) were the characters I needed to to write to write Corrinne.
Going into town had been an experience. The United Light had a travel bus they took into the nearest town ,Port Freedom. The bus looked out of place compared to the dusty old American cars that I had thought they stopped making before I was born. The cars dotted the parking lot of a center that sported a K-Mart, Dollar Tree and BottomDollar.
The economy must be doing great in Port Freedom.
Which is the town Rhett is from and in a subconscious way, exploring this setting was kind of the genesis for OHG and his character in general.
This is fun !
HMLIS and Vice 2 Update
It's bad when you have to Google writer's block cures. It's been slow going, but I am so excited for these next few chapters.
So, when I was writing a scene in Vice 2 I had that first moment where I Googled something I realize could make me look REALLY bad. I almost wanted to add 'because I'm writing a web serial' after it. I can't say what it is just yet, because it'd be a spoiler.

I'm breaking the rules now. No more alternating POVs each chapter, I'm just writing what fits next.
Previously...The truth is out;Abigail wasn't murdered but committed suicide. But if she's not ready to confront her death what can Corinne and Jonah do now ?
