SHV is Back On Her Bullsh*t (UL 3.75 ?)

I can't believe I'm finally sharing this...I started the playlist for this in June 2017 ! EPOH is the last canon thing I have for my UL crew and I'm feeling really okay with it. I'm not saying no more UL ever but for now, this is it.

Every Piece of Happiness Aesthetic

There are just certain images where Anna Chulmsky and James Marsden look SO CLOSE to Grown!Juliana and Grown!Rhett. It's funny, their expressions in the above aesthetic  really should be swapped.

I kind of like to "check in" on my character inspys and when I was looking for the above images I got back on my dark-haired-blue-eyed man bullsh*t and checked up on Marsden and  Nicholas Hoult, my young Rhett inspy.

 BTW, I think these two really complement each oher.

I can report that in 2020 Hoult is playing JRR Tolkien in a biopic and doing some other interesting indie films and Marsden is...um...aging like a fine wine atleast ?

Marsden and Hoult are 16 years apart so if anyone is asking I would totally abandon whatever I'm doing  to write a Gilmore Girls type spec script for these two.

Oh, also..James Marsden and Nicholas Hoult are in a movie together (IDK if they have scenes together) so gold star to whoever can guess without looking it up!
 
Recap
Every Piece of Happiness takes place in the One Last Thing timeline, which is 16 years after the beginning of UL3.

Rhett, 39, is hurt in the line of duty. He shatters his hip dangling out of a helicopter during a mission. He is now back active duty Coast Guard and works as a water trainer. Juliana, 38, is raising their 5 children and Rhett's best friend's daughter. Rhett's mother dies unexpectedly from an aneurysm.

They have the following children:

Mason, 16 - Born during UL3
Spencer, 14 - Born at the end of UL3
Peyton, 6 - Baby at the end of the UL3 epilogue
Carter, 3 - Born during the time Rhett was recovering from his injury. In my head she was totally conceived in a hospital room when Juliana moved to Alaska to help Rhett recover in the hospital.
Annabelle Grace, 13 months - The accident baby who was born 6 weeks early

Other children:
Laci Sullivan, 14 - Amber and West (Rhett's maternal cousin) daughter.
Tennessee Grady, 6 - Cody's daughter that Juliana and Rhett have legal custody over while Cody is in in jail
Noah Presley Giroux, 15 -  Aubrey (Rhett's paternal cousin) and Wil's son.

I wrote this story in two parts (meaning I wrote one section in 2017 and um, the other in 2019) so I'm going to share it in two parts. It shouldn't need too much of a recap except the character refresher.

Walking On Sunshine
I closed the book on Sunshine months ago so I've kind of had my closure on it for a while. I had a thought experiment based on a comment about "what would Rias Washington's daughters be like" and it bloomed into this.  Sunshine i the first "full length" serial shaped thing I wrote in one document so I can say it is about 59,000 words---which is a long way from the single scene flash fic I started with. It's also fun that I can now open one document and search for lines and references...how did it take me this long to figure out I needed to write in one doc ?????

I wrote Release at the same time I started Sunshine and for a while considered sharing it before

Sunshine to introduce the time jump. But I really wanted to dive right into Sunshine being inside  El's head.

Release just kind of goes more into why Luce is in a wheelchair and digs a little into he and Haley's relationship. It's never explained much in Sunshine exactly why and how Luce ended up in a wheelchair.

For a long time this doc was called MSB and I have NO IDEA WHY!

I tried to write this in a way that it didn't need a recap. You just have to remember Sara and Luce have a company called Fallwater and that Haley kidnapped Maxwell's son for 12 years.

 Lile, I swear I started this in February 2019 before we'd gotten into GWOSM! The similarities really jump out to me when I was formatting.

Nobody: SHV: WIP in 2019 Memes! (Sunshine 15)

I have all my Sunshine posts pre-written and it's so funny someone in the last comment section referenced my Meme Me Up, Scotty post because I already had another meme post planned!

My favorite thing about Last Sentinel is the futuristic Victorian steampunk motif I was going for but the characters feel so far out of my grasp. Fineas from The Lost Sentinel is basically a mix of Issac Prior and Teen!Luce. Princess Xael is a mix of El Washington and Abigail from HMLIS.

I've been looking up "easter egg" names to put in my crossover fanfics and I have no idea how you all put up with some of the trash I've written.

This is really about the Haley/Maxwell relationship in general. I like writing about their relationship as long as it's not seen as romantic...and it's kind of interesting to write from Maxwell's perspective because he doesn't see himself as an abuser.

I unfortunately couldn't think of one for the meme of the lady screaming at the cat !


It's Called an Homage ?
The scene of Haley yelling at Grayson in the last chapter is pretty much based on the last 30 seconds of this scene from Bird Box. The video should start from that scene. I just liked the intensity of the scene and how you want to call the mother a monster for screaming at the child but she has no choice because it's either hurt their feelings or something bad happens to them.  Also, 54-year-old Sandy Bullock is definitely my GrownAss!iMinnow inspiration

Now that that moment of levity is over, let's get back to Sunshine! El has decided she's done running away. Back on Catalina Island, Kian has taken the girls out of the room he was keeping them in with Minnow and is making an announcement at the Avalon Hotel. He wants Alan Gray by his side when he does it...

Call Me By Your Fantasy Name Generator (Sunshine 14)

Writing BFF!
Someone in a previous post commented on the name Kian Donnelly and it reminded me that I needed to blog about my newest serial writing BFF (along with wine, Pinterest and Spotify playlists). The website Fantasy Name Generator has really come through for me lately.

They have a Real Names generator that I can sort by ethnicity and I've been leaning on it hard...they also have a cyberpunk name generator and what I would have given ANYTHING to have  earlier. I also wish I'd had the Motorcyle Club generator name one too...I'm putting that thought on my backburner....

So in conclusion, you guys won't hear me asking you all for name ideas anymore!

I made a comment to Lile that last chapter was a short chapter...I was confused *this* is the shortie chapter. It was kind of a balance to get all the POVs lined up and this one became an awkward legnth.

I've Become A FanFiction Writer (Sunshine 13)

I have run out of things to blog about so I'm just going to tell you what I've been working on lately. Update: I ended up deleting a lot of content in this section because I'd rather share it when it's ready.


IDK if I've mentioned this but I finished Sunshine in a feverish writing spree a few weeks ago so I've basically just been dawdling around writing Vice fanfiction ever since.

SWM is my silly Vice/UL crossover crack!fic that somehow has a cover.

The newest one is...a Vice/UL/LL/NA  (yes, Litany Lane and New Aeterna ) crossover fanfiction. It's not as crack-y as the other one I'm working on and yes,  I am stressing over writing these LL characters.This one is in it's early phase but I'm having so much fun with it !

The fanfics have sort of been writing challenges for me until I get another idea to latch on to. Oddly enough...I'm less scared of not having ideas than I used to be.

Also, no, no I haven't looked at The Lost Sentinel. I think I may have to do some major restructuring on it...I'm thinking of making it a loosely connected anthology ?

Okay, we are finally back to El's story. Grayson snuck out and was kidnapped by Kian. Haley tells Kian where they have been hiding so he doesn't hurt Grayson.

The bombs go off on campus and El runs into the woods with Isaac where they end up in The Quiet....

Let's Jump Back In to Sunshine (Sushine 12)

So, surprise! I'm going to get back to Sunshine instead of sharing a TDOSH. I started doing a few TDOSHs and they were kind of lacking and I need to do a lot of re-reading to catch the story back up. I'm not saying no more TDOSHing but I'll put it in my back pocket for later.


It's Pronounced...
As I was re-reading Veritas I found this little exchange I totally forgot about where I explain the pronunciation of Mjollner:

"Minnie I have a question, the Me-something you keep mentioning--,"

"The Mjöllner ? It's Me-joln-er. It's the Soviet cartel, there  a pretty big threat but only if you mess with them. Mostly they think the arms race is still going on,"

"Should I be worried ?,"

"You ? No, not really,"

Sunshine Recap
Kian Donnelly, the secret oldest son of Rayne Washington is after the money and power from the family he never knew. He poses as Kenji Washington to get inside Rias Washington' house. He plans to kill the adults and kidnap the girls and then reveal himself to the world as the only living true heir.

What Kian doesn't account for  is Eloise "El" Washington leaving the house in the middle of the night after a fight with her parents. She runs for her life with her grandparents to Arkham Academy for shelter. There she meets her cousin Kenji and  Isaac, his loyal sexy cyborg ex-soldier security guard.

But it's not entirely safe. Alex Haley is kidnapped when he goes back to the city and visits the apartment complex Kian burned to flush them out. He finds himself locked in a lab with Alan Gray.

Back at Arkham, they run a DNA test from Jean Dory's shoe and discover one of the men working with the attackers might be an Armenian gang member ? Kenji gets mad at Isaac for running the DNA through the student database, they have a fight and when he leaves El follows....

They step outside just in time to watch bombs falling on the campus. Issac and El make a run for it and end up  lost in the Quiet--the places that were unsettled after the Serial Wars.

Other things:

• Colette has a motorcycle club called the Furies. She and Twyla get answers about Kian from Ivy
• When Haley is kidnapped he discovers Alan, Minnow, Angel and Atsumi are alive and Alan is trying to earn Kian's trust.
• Haley has a 6-year-old son named Grayson who is taking it really hard that Haley disapeared without a trace...

The last few sections have been about Twyla and Haley and take place before the bombs fall on Arkham. And we're going to go back one more time before catching back up...

I've been in a weird place where I have SO MUCH I just need to sit down and tangle out into words but my procrastination and side tracking has gone to that next level.

You know that Vice/UL crossover thing I haven't entirely written yet ? It has a cover ! I have no idea why, it doesn't even have an official title but I needed to do something besides finishing what I've started.

My main goal is to finish Sunshine so I've been chugging away at that.

Little Miracles

So, this is a little weird to post because we are so much in the meat of Sunshine.  I started writing this a few weeks after I got the idea for Sunshine. At the time I didn't know why  nevermind, apparently I wrote an author's note at the end explaining why I wrote it.

This takes place about a year or so before the events of Sunshine. Just as a background refresher in this short story's world the following things have happened:

1. Haley and Luce kidnap Phoenix Maxwell and Haley goes into hiding with him on the satellite ship called Atlas Star. Haley and Luce get married for life insurance reasons but don't tell anyone. (end of Pulse)

2.  For 12 years Haley lives on the ship and when it docks he visits with Luce and goes to  Control doing short stints for money.

3. During this time Sara is shot by the family member of someone she killed when she was an assassin. She almost dies and has a "come to Jesus moment" and cuts all her ties to the Shy Cartel including the money. She  moves in with Luce and becomes something of a shut in. She and Luce start their own firm.

4. Phoenix Maxwell figures out he was kidnapped. He goes back to his family on Earth. Maxwell's car accident is staged and he goes to Bright Seas. (Burn)

5. Less than a year after Phoenix leaves  Haley has Grayson--who is a genetic clone. Haley quits being a sex worker permanently.

6. Luce's cybernetics malfunction and he is in a wheelchair. Haley leaves the satellite ship to take care of him. He and Grayson live in the apartment next door....which for folks following at home is the apartment that used to be Charlotte's but she moved out when she married Rias. So it's been vacant for a while.

I just want to clear some of this up, most of this isn't going to come back into this story.
